TAFFY ENTERTAINMENT COMPLETES A RAFT OF DEALS WITH NEW CODE LYOKO LICENSEES
Taffy Entertainment has ensured that Summer 2007 will be a great one for fans of the popular animated TV series "Code Lyoko," having completed a variety of licensing deals on behalf of the series. Hot on the heels of a successful QSR in-store promotion with Carl's Jr.® and Hardee's® quick-service hamburger chains in the USA and Singapore, Taffy Entertainment has signed deals with EMI/Caroline Records for a music CD, software publisher Mindscape for a new PC and Sony Playstation 2 game and new t-shirts from Headline Entertainment.
The summer promotion at participating Carl's Jr. and Hardee's restaurants kicked off June 27 in the USA and Singapore and features approximately 3.5 million Cool Kids Combos® meal premiums in four different Code Lyoko designs, in addition to POP at Carl's Jr., including an in-store premium display featuring the Code Lyoko premiums.
EMI/Caroline Records recently released the CD "Code Lyoko - Featuring The Subdigitals," featuring music from - and inspired by - the animated series. It also features a bonus music video for the song "Planet Net." The CD follows last year's release of the title song from the show, "A World Without Danger," which reached number one on iTunes in the Children's Music category. The CD is available both in the US and internationally.
Mindscape will be designing new video games for the PC and Sony Playstation 2™ platforms, each focused around "Code Lyoko's" heroes. The games will be released in 2008 in the US, UK and France. In 2007, The Game Factory will have launched two of their own video games based on the show. The Nintendo DS game hit US retailers at the beginning of June and a "Code Lyoko" game for the new Wii™ platform will be out for the 2007 holiday season.
In the apparel category, Headline Entertainment will debut a new line of "Code Lyoko"-inspired t-shirts this month at specialty retailers in the US.
Utilizing the latest advances in 2D and 3D computer graphics imagery (CGI), "Code Lyoko" follows the adventures of four "ordinary" students who discover the existence of a mysterious parallel universe, a virtual world called Lyoko. The students, Yumi, Ulrich, Odd and Jeremy discover that both Earth and Lyoko are being threatened with destruction by a super virus, X.A.N.A., which has infected the Super Computer that controls everything. Now the students, who are joined by Aelita, a virtual being from Lyoko, must lead double lives: ordinary boarding school students on Earth and action heroes inside the digital world of Lyoko.
"With ‘Code Lyoko,' the licensing and promotional possibilities are limitless," explains Cynthia Money, President, Worldwide Consumer Products and Marketing for Taffy Entertainment. "As we enter our fourth season of the series in the US and France, and earlier seasons debut elsewhere around the world, we are continuing to grow our fan base and providing them with great new avenues for experiencing the show on and off their television sets. We look forward to nurturing the new relationships with our partners and creating many more fun opportunities to grow the brand in the near future."
